If you’re into rock music, we bet you’ve heard the name Bruce Springsteen. The singer, songwriter, and legendary rock star turned seventy recently, and we’re listing five reasons how the musician inspires rock music lovers everywhere:

1. He’s not just a singer; Springsteen is also an admired songwriter. The song Born to Run propelled Springsteen to stardom and fame. His song lyrics are often poetic and sometimes reflect his take on society. Songs you might have heard on the radio? Born in the USA or Jungleland.

2. Sure, Springsteen is known more for his rock music, but he often ventures into folk songs and more recently, hip hop. He also speaks out on social justice issues, including environmental protection, hunger, and poverty.

3. Even though Springsteen has won twenty Grammys, an Oscar, two Golden Globes, and many other awards, not a single one of his songs has ever made its way to the top of a hit music chart.

4. His nickname is The Boss, and it stuck because Springsteen collected pay for every night his band played and distributed it to his bandmates.

5. If you’ve seen anyone play the guitar more than two hours continuously, chances are, you were quite impressed. Springsteen is well known for his guitar skills, and he recently played the guitar for more than four hours at a concert in Finland. Side note: His love for the guitar started early when his mom took out a loan to buy his first guitar for sixty dollars. His song The Wish talks about this episode in his life.

If you’re a Springsteen fan, we want to know which song is your favorite and why you like it!
