The Cannes Film Festival, held in the south of France each year, is one of the biggest celebrations in the world of movies, fashion, and art. As with most things, there are some rules that attendees must follow. While some might seem odd (why would high heels be required?), the reason these rules exist—according to festival organizers—is to carry on the decades-long standards of the festival. Take a look at some of the rules and tell us which ones you think make sense and which ones don’t!
*No selfies on the red carpet
*Women must wear high heels
*Photographers are required to wear a black-tie suit
*No handbags on the red carpet
*Gala attire only
At first glance, these rules might seem similar to many dress codes at formal events, but can you think of why dress codes are necessary in the first place?
