It was exactly this time one year ago when the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors faced each other in the NBA Finals. It was also this time last year when the Warriors led the Cavaliers three games to one and the Cavaliers came back to take the next three games and ultimately the title of 2016 NBA champion.
But that, shall we say, is ancient history …
This season proved to be another great one for both the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers, as both teams once again made it into the NBA Finals. But for each team, winning the championship title would mean something different. For the Golden State Warriors it was redemption—after all they were so close to winning last year’s title. For the Cleveland Cavaliers, it was about showing the world why they’re the reigning champions. Needless to say, it would be a very exciting match up.
After winning the first three games against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but losing the 4th, sports analysts couldn’t help but wonder if the Cavaliers would once again come back to take the championship title away from the Warriors. But with the thunderous roar of the crowd cheering them on in Oracle Arena, the Warriors took Game 5, beating the Cavaliers 126 to 120 to win the title of 2017 NBA Champions.
Congratulations, Warriors! It was always about “Strength in Numbers” and fans who never stopped believing!
The city of Oakland will be hosting a parade for the Warriors on Thursday, June 15th. Will you be there to celebrate the Warriors’ second championship title in three years?
