It was an unusual pairing, but it happened. Undefeated champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. came out of retirement to battle champion mixed martial artist (MMA) Conor McGregor in the boxing ring. The highly anticipated fight was an end to boxing for one and possibly the beginning for another. Although the odds were against McGregor—some predicted that Mayweather would knock him out early on—he managed to stay in the match for ten rounds. At the end of the match, Mayweather was declared the winner and officially announced his retirement from boxing, while McGregor hinted that this might not be his last boxing match.
