It’s being called the largest comeback in Super Bowl history— and why not? The Atlanta Falcons were leading the New England Patriots 28-3 with less than nine minutes left of the third quarter (there are four quarters in every football game), when their luck started to change. The Patriots scored 25 points in a row, while the Falcons scored none. With less than a minute left, the Patriots tied the game, forcing the game to go into overtime. Final score? New England Patriots 34, Atlanta Falcons 28.
Interesting Fact: Those Super Bowl commercials cost a pretty penny, or shall we say LOTS of pretty pennies! If you wanted to buy a 30-second T.V. commercial space during this year’s Super Bowl, it would have cost you an average of (gulp!) $5 million. In comparison, it would have only cost you $42,000 during the first Super Bowl in 1967.
