The International Space Station passed an amazing milestone. There are few things that are ultra out-of- this-world cool, but the International Space Station (ISS) has to be one of them — at least we think so! But what is it exactly? We’re oversimplifying it a bit, but it’s a research lab and living space for scientists that orbits approximately 240-miles above earth. It started with a single module that was built in space. Today, it spans the size of an American football stadium. Recently, the ISS made its 100,000th orbit around Earth. It took over 17 years and the work of five major space stations, representing 15 countries, to accomplish. Now that’s something worth celebrating!
