Last September, we shared a story about Rihanna. Yes, she’s a megastar, but last fall she also became the official Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary for her home country of Barbados. What can’t this woman do, right? Nothing, if you ask us! And she’s proven once again that she’s not only an amazing singer, actor, ambassador, and fashion designer, but a savvy and trailblazing entrepreneur as well. Recently, Rihanna partnered up with the luxury brand Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) to design a line of clothing, shoes, and accessories under her own label called Fenty. While the label isn’t new (Fenty is Rihanna’s hugely popular beauty line for women of all colors), Rihanna will be the first woman to start an original fashion line with LVMH, and the first person of color to have a label under the fashion house. Why is this such a big deal, you might be wondering? Because historically, luxury fashion brands have been dominated by men, and Rihanna’s partnership with LVMH is considered a huge breakthrough for women in the luxury fashion industry. You go, girl!
