It seems like Rihanna—the singer, actress, fashion designer, and entrepreneur—has been work, work, work, work, work-ing a lot lately, but that hasn’t stopped her from taking on another job. Earlier this month, she was given the title and responsibilities of the “Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary” by her home country of Barbados. While she’s already familiar with the role of ambassador (she’s been their Cultural Ambassador since 2008!), her new role means greater responsibility in helping to promote not only tourism, but also education and investment for the island. But why Rihanna? Well, according to Mia Amor Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados, they asked Rihanna to fill this role because she “has a deep love for this country, and this is reflected in her philanthropy, especially in the areas of health and education. She also shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to this country and continues to treasure the island as her home … She has also demonstrated, beyond her success as a pop icon, significant creative acumen and shrewdness in business.” Looks like Rihanna’s more than qualified for the job if you ask us!
If you were given the role of Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary, how would you help your country?
