Are robots taking over the world? Well, maybe not the world, but they might just take over the world of delivering packages to your door. How? Robot dogs and self-driving cars working as a team, of course! Scratching your head? Let us explain. Every year, people gather in Las Vegas, Nevada, to attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). There, attendees can learn about, test, and play with cool new electronics. After all, there are gadgets and gizmos aplenty! Bigger and better TVs, faster computers that do more than ever before, smarter electronics that’ll make your life easier, and of course products that are more concept than for day-to-day use (Hi, Hyundai’s walking car!). But one company’s latest offering caught our attention more so than some of the other gadgets because … well … we’ve covered both of these things before: the robot dog and autonomous delivery vehicles!
Check this out: Continental, a German mobility company, unveiled a delivery system that would involve using autonomous vans packed with robot dogs. When the van arrives in a designated area, the dogs are deployed to deliver packages to the exact delivery location. According to Continental, the idea behind this new system is to help make the package delivery business more efficient and safe. Robot dogs scurrying out of a driverless vehicle and making a beeline to a delivery location might take some getting used to, but we’ll take a robot delivery dog over a robot delivery lion any day, wouldn’t you? Roar!
What would you like to see in the future of electronics?
