Our Fav Words Are So Adorbs!

September 15, 2018

It’s that time of year again! No, we’re not talking about the start of a brand new school year (we talked about that already!) or about the return of the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks, but about the introduction of brand new words in the Merriam-Webster dictionary! Wait, wait! Before you roll your eyes … hear us out, because we think some of the words are awesomesauce—and yes, that’s a real word that was added to the Oxford dictionary in 2015! Last year, we shared that words such as binge-watch, face-palm, and humblebrag were added to the dictionary. What are some of this year’s newest additions? Drum roll, please …

Fav: It’s short for favorite, as in you’re our fav Xyza reader!

Adorbs: Yep, you guessed it … it’s slang for adorable.

Guac: That’s short for guacamole. Yum!

Zoodles: This is a combined word: zucchini + noodles!

Hangry: That’s when you get angry because you’re super hungry. Let’s see … how can we use this in a sentence? I missed breakfast and lunch, so leave me alone because I am hangry!

What are some words that you’d like to see in the dictionary next year?
