Shut down by the Government
Something shocking happened in Turkey last week. The Turkish government shut down a newspaper called the “Zaman” to silence those who opposed Recep Tayyip Ergodan, the President of Turkey. Police stormed into the newspaper offices, red the chief, and arrested reporters. The government of Turkey then assigned their own people to write more pleasant news like one about the construction of a new bridge, rather than what was really happening in the country. We couldn’t imagine having freedom of press taken away from us. Could you?
