Did you know that 80 percent of the world’s almond supply comes from California? More specifically, the valleys of central California. Most of the almonds we eat come from this one region and are involved in the biggest pollination event in the world! Billions of honeybees travel in a national migration toward California to work on almond blossoms, doing what they usually do. They collect nectar and pollen to raise their brood and also manage to transfer pollen to flowers. Pollinating every last almond blossom is essential and bees fly in from various parts of the country, because the bees in California are simply not enough to get the job done!
