Last year, World Rugby announced that transgender women (or those assigned male at birth who later transition to being female) would be banned from playing in international competitions. It was a huge shock to the transgender community since World Rugby has always promoted inclusivity in the sport.

Why go against the World Rugby ban? According to Serge Simon, the vice president of the FFR, “Rugby is an inclusive sport of sharing, without distinction of sex, gender, origin, or religion.”
