Boom, We’re There!

Have You Ever Taken A Long Flight?

A flight from San Francisco to New York City takes an average of five to six hours and International flights take even longer. We know, we know—it takes sooooo long, right? But if you stop and think about how long a flight takes from San Francisco to New York City now versus how long it took back in the 1950s, commercial flight times have improved quite a bit. Now, what if we told you that a new kind of jet can take you to places even faster—would you be all for it? We would be!

What’s Happening Now:

Recently, United Airlines became the first airline to purchase a fleet of jets from Boom Supersonic, an aircraft developer specializing in supersonic jets (aircraft that travel faster than the speed of sound!). These jets are so fast that they can take passengers to destinations around the world in half the time it takes standard commercial airplanes. For example, a flight from San Francisco to Tokyo, which takes approximately ten hours now, will only take six hours on a supersonic jet. Exciting, right? And above all else, these jets promise to offer passengers plenty of privacy, space, comfort, and even touchless technology amenities.

When Will These Airplanes Make Their Debut?

The target date is 2029, so we’ll have to wait a few more years before we can head to our favorite destination in no—or should we say less—time.
