It was a long and hard-fought presidential campaign, but in the end, Americans chose decency, community, and a leader who promises to “restore the soul of the nation.” Former Vice President Joe Biden and running mate Kamala Harris encouraged people to vote. These votes helped to flip historically red or Republican-dominated states, which in turn gave Biden the 270 electoral votes he needed to win the election. When Biden is sworn into office in January, he’ll make history as the oldest person to assume the role as president of the United States. And when Kamala Harris is sworn in as vice president of the United States, she’ll make history as the first female, as well as the first South Asian and Black vice president. Biden and Harris have a BIG job ahead of them, but the hope is that together they will restore the soul of the nation and build a brighter future for everyone.
