Australia seems to be dealing with a lot! Two years ago, bushfires ravaged the country and caused colossal damage. Now, it’s the rain’s turn to attack. The country is receiving the highest rainfall seen in decades, all in the same week. One natural reaction to rains? Flooding! So, while people figure out how to save themselves and their homes from the floods, often by evacuating, some living creatures can’t be as flexible—in this case, spiders and snakes. This week, residents in Australia found spiders and snakes in the water flooding their region, as these animals and insects had tried, just as people did, to find higher ground. Where else would they find refuge but in trees and people’s homes?
Residents who live in the coastal areas are dealing with spiders and snakes while those who live inland are dealing with rodents. And no, the population of these insects and animals hasn’t increased, they’re just finding safer places to live. What would you do to protect your home from creepy crawlies and critters?
