At the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium, a herd of White’s Seahorses (we’re talking about a hundred!) were born recently with more expected to come in the next few months. Why is this so special? The White’s Seahorse was listed as an endangered species in 2017 due to loss of habitat. Since then, the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium has been working to increase the population of these wondrous sea creatures. While there’s still a lot of work to do, the staff at the aquarium are seeing some success with babies from the first batch of seahorses born through the program mating with other seahorses. Now, that’s something to cheer about!
Interesting Fact: Seahorses are one of only three animals where the male gets pregnant and gives birth rather than the female.
