Six Billion Dollars To Solve World Hunger?

Challenge On!

Have a solution for the world hunger problem? Then the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, will sell $6 billion worth of Tesla shares right now and support you in your endeavors! Sounds like a make-believe scenario, but it’s not. When the United Nations World Food Program Director, David Beasley, was interviewed about the world hunger problem, he claimed that the issue could easily be solved if two of the world’s wealthiest people (hello, Elon Musk and Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos) stepped up to the challenge.

Well, that “challenge” made Musk sit up and listen. He responded on Twitter by tweeting, “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6 billion will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.” He continued by saying, “But it must be open-source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.” That’s right, a savvy businessman is saying he’ll put his money where his mouth is and help solve the world hunger problem, if Beasley and his team at the UN World Food Program can lay out exactly how they’ll do it. While $6 billion may not solve the problem, Beasley refined his response by saying that it would help save 42 million people from the brink of starvation.

It’s your turn, Beasley. We say, strike while the iron’s hot and let’s solve this global problem!
