If you’re a hockey fan, you probably followed the Stanley Cup Finals where the Washington Capitals played against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Both teams had a tremendous regular season, with impressive wins throughout the eighty-two games they played, and neither had ever won a Stanley Cup before. The Golden Knights, a team that had just started playing together less than a year ago, took game one from the Washington Capitals. Even with the odds against them (early odds of them even making it to the Stanley Cup were 500-1, or really, really small!), it looked like the Golden Knights might just pull off a Stanley Cup upset. Alas, that was not the case. The Capitals came back to win games two, three, four, and five—ultimately winning the title of 2018 NHL Champions and the Stanley Cup. Congratulations, Capitals, on your first Stanley Cup win!
Cool Fact: Talk about gracious winners … the day after their Stanley Cup win, the Capitals took out a full page ad in the Las Vegas Review Journal congratulating the Golden Knights on a successful first season. Classy? We’d say so.
