And the Award Goes To…

June 8, 2016

The Tony Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the world of theater. For one night, people watch and root for their favorite plays and musicals, and for the people who make it happen behind and on stage. This year, “Hamilton,” a hip-hop musical about one of the United States’ Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton, received a record 16 Tony nominations and won 11 of them. In his acceptance speech, Lin-Manuel Miranda, the genius behind the musical, thanked his wife with a sonnet (a type of poem) and emphasized that “love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside.”
