Sometimes you’re so close to being number one, you can feel it! And sometimes that feeling … well … is just a feeling. Singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress Mariah Carey knows the feeling well. Twenty-five years ago, she wrote a song called All I Want For Christmas Is You. It was incredibly popular in 1994 and has remained popular ever since. Ever listen to the radio during the holiday season? You’ll hear it. Walk into a department store? You’ll hear it. Attend a holiday party? You’ll hear it. You get the point. But for all its popularity over the years, it was never the number one song on the Billboard charts—that is, until earlier this week. After twenty-five years of air time, Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You finally hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. No more lingering near the top spot for this holiday classic; it’s finally number one! Congratulations, Ms. Carey!
