What are you doing on June 8th? If you’re headed to the beach, you might find people participating in a beach cleanup, creating an art piece out of things that washed up ashore, or gathering for a celebration.
Because June 8th is World Oceans Day and people from around the world will be doing their part to help protect our planet’s oceans. After all, oceans are an important part of planet Earth! It provides a home for marine life, produces oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and let’s not forget, offers a nice place to do fun things like splashing, surfing, and swimming!
Last year, over 100 countries celebrated World Oceans Day by cleaning up their local beaches, pledging (or making a promise) to keep the oceans clean, and learning how to honor and protect our oceans.
